PWHL Postpones Minnesota-Montréal Walter Cup Playoff Game Due to Illness Concerns

Published: May 11th 2026

Canada: The Professional Women’s Hockey League announced that Game 5 of the Walter Cup Playoffs between Minnesota and Montréal, scheduled for Sunday night at Place Bell in Laval, Québec, has been postponed due to player safety concerns related to illness.

According to the league, the decision was made following consultation with medical personnel and in accordance with the PWHL’s commitment to the health and wellbeing of players, fans, staff, and others involved in the competition.

League officials said a rescheduled date for the game will be announced once medical guidance determines it is appropriate to resume play. The PWHL said another update is expected within the next day.

The league also stated that medical assessment determined the symptoms are not consistent with hantavirus.

All tickets purchased for Sunday night’s game will be honored for the rescheduled date. Fans unable to attend the makeup game will receive refund information at a later time.
