St. Paul Man Charged with First- and Third-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct

SAINT PAUL MN: A Saint Paul man is facing multiple felony charges in Ramsey County following allegations of sexual assault earlier this week.
According to a criminal complaint, Sean Garrison McNerthney has been charged with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct in connection to an incident reported on or about April 20, 2026.
The first-degree charge alleges McNerthney engaged in sexual penetration with another person under circumstances that caused the victim to have a reasonable fear of imminent great bodily harm, in violation of Minnesota Statute 609.342.1(a). The charge carries a maximum penalty of up to 30 years in prison, a $40,000 fine, or both.
The second count, third-degree criminal sexual conduct, alleges McNerthney used coercion to accomplish sexual penetration, in violation of Minnesota Statute 609.344.1(a). That charge carries a maximum sentence of up to 15 years in prison, a $30,000 fine, or both.
McNerthney is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
