ROSEMOUNT, MINNESOTA - A single-story home in Rosemount sustained significant damage after a fast-moving fire broke out late Sunday morning, prompting a large emergency response and temporary evacuation of a neighboring residence.
Crews were dispatched just after 11:35 a.m. after the City of Rosemount says one of their employees who lived nearby saw the fire, alerted the unaware occupant of the home by breaking windows, and helped the resident get their dog safely out of the home in the 3600 block of 148th Street West for a reported structure fire. Agencies responding included Rosemount Fire, Apple Valley Fire, the Apple Valley Fire Marshal, Rosemount Police, and MHealth EMS. According to initial scanner traffic, when officers with the Rosemount Police Department arrived on scene, they reported that the east side of the home was already fully engulfed in flames. Due to the fire's intensity, the incident was upgraded to a second-alarm response around 11:40 a.m., bringing in additional mutual aid resources from the Apple Valley Fire Department.
Fire crews arrived shortly after, around 11:42 a.m., and confirmed the home was fully involved. Given the extent of the fire, crews initiated a defensive firefighting attack, focusing on containing the blaze and preventing it from spreading rather than entering the structure. Authorities confirmed that all occupants, including pets, safely evacuated the home before firefighters arrived, and no injuries have been reported.
While crews worked to contain the fire, a nearby home was also evacuated as a precaution, as the intense heat from the blaze caused siding on the neighboring structure to begin melting, raising concerns about potential fire spread.
Preliminary information shared with Limitless Media News from personnel on scene indicates the fire may have originated from an e-scooter located in the home’s garage. That information has not yet been officially confirmed, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Fire crews brought the blaze under control, and the fire was declared out at approximately 12:25 p.m.
The home appears to have sustained significant damage. While officials have not released information on the extent of the damage, the City of Rosemount stated that the resident has been displaced and is unable to stay in the home at this time. This remains an active investigation, and additional details are expected to be released as they become available.
