BREAKING: Barricaded Suspect at Stone Grove Apartment Taken Into Custody Following Assault and SWAT Incident
Published: April 12, 2026
BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA - A barricaded suspect was taken into custody Sunday night following an hours-long police incident at an apartment complex in Burnsville that began as an assault.
Authorities say the incident has been ongoing since about 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at the Stone Grove Apartments in the 2500 block of Williams Drive. The situation escalated when the suspect involved in the assault barricaded themselves inside a third-floor apartment, prompting a large-scale response.
At approximately 9:42 p.m., the suspect was taken into custody, bringing the incident to a close.
SWAT Response and Multi-Agency Presence
Due to the barricaded suspect, multiple agencies responded to assist Burnsville Police, including officers from Eagan and Bloomington. Tactical units, including SWAT personnel and an armored BearCat vehicle, were observed on scene.
The presence of specialized units suggests law enforcement is treating the situation with heightened caution as they work to safely resolve the standoff.
Third Floor Evacuated
Residents at the complex report that the third floor of the front building on the east side was evacuated as a precaution. This aligns with the barricaded suspect's location, though officials have not publicly confirmed the exact unit involved.
It is not yet clear how many residents were displaced or when they were allowed to return to their units.
Fire Crews Staged on Scene
Burnsville Fire personnel were also dispatched and remained on standby during the incident. Fire and medical teams are typically positioned nearby during barricaded or high-risk situations to provide immediate assistance if needed.
Limited Details, Investigation Ongoing
Authorities have not released additional details about the assault itself, including whether there were injuries or if any victims have been located. No information has been provided on the suspect’s identity at this time, other than that it is a male subject.
There has been no indication of a broader threat to the public, but residents were urged to avoid the area while law enforcement continued to manage the situation. Just after 9:30 PM, SWAT had used flash bangs, and by 9:42 PM, the suspect was taken into custody.
This remains a developing story. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
