Vehicle Accident Involving Child on Electric Scooter Under Investigation in Rosemount

ROSEMOUNT, MINNESOTA – The Rosemount Police Department is investigating a serious crash involving a 9-year-old child riding an electric scooter after the incident left the child with critical injuries Sunday evening.

According to the Interim Chief of Police, Carson Thomas, Rosemount officers were dispatched around 5:22 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2025, to the intersection of Bloomfield Path and Banyan Lane for a report of a vehicle accident involving a juvenile on an electric motor scooter. When officers arrived, they located the 9-year-old on the west side of Bloomfield Path. The child had sustained severe injuries and was immediately transported to Regions Hospital for advanced medical care.

Police say the driver and passenger of the vehicle involved remained on scene and are cooperating fully with investigators.

Due to the seriousness of the child’s injuries, the Rosemount Police Department requested assistance from the Minnesota State Reconstruction Team to aid in the investigation and help determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.

According to the boy’s family via a comment on Facebook, he suffered a skull fracture, brain bleed, and a broken pelvis as a result of the collision. In an unconfirmed report from a friend of the child, reportedly he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Authorities say the investigation remains active, and no further details have been released at this time. Rosemount Fire Department also responded to the scene of the crash.
