SCOTT COUNTY, MN: A woman from Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, is facing felony and misdemeanor charges after authorities say she fled from a Scott County deputy during a traffic stop attempt on Wednesday afternoon, leading deputies across county lines before the vehicle was ultimately stopped in Lakeville, Minnesota.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Scott County District Court, Dina Esther Castillo de Bonilla, 25, of Brooklyn Center, has been charged with fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, a felony that carries a maximum penalty of three years and one day in prison and a $5,000 fine. She is also charged with driving without a valid driver’s license, failing to stop at the entrance of a through highway, and speeding.

Alleged Pursuit Begins in Credit River

According to the statement of probable cause, the incident occurred around 2:09 p.m. on March 11, 2026, when a Scott County deputy was patrolling Natchez Avenue in Credit River. The deputy reportedly observed a black Hyundai Sonata traveling at a high rate of speed toward the squad vehicle. Radar indicated the vehicle was traveling 68 miles per hour in a 55-mph zone, prompting the deputy to turn around and initiate a traffic stop.

Authorities say the deputy activated emergency lights and siren, but the driver did not stop.

Instead, the vehicle allegedly continued driving and turned east onto County Road 21, which is designated as a through highway. Investigators say the driver failed to yield to oncoming traffic, forcing another motorist to brake in order to avoid a collision.

Pursuit Continues into Dakota County

As the vehicle continued eastbound, the deputy notified Lakeville Police Department and the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office that the suspect vehicle was entering their jurisdiction. Despite the activated lights and siren, the complaint states the driver continued driving into Dakota County without stopping.

The pursuit ended when the vehicle stopped at the intersection of County Road 60 and Lansford Path in Lakeville. Deputies then approached the vehicle and identified the driver as Castillo de Bonilla. Authorities ordered her out of the vehicle and placed her under arrest.

Driver Statements to Deputies

According to the complaint, Castillo de Bonilla initially indicated that she did not speak English, prompting deputies to contact Language Line interpreter services to assist with communication.

After being read her Miranda rights, Castillo de Bonilla reportedly told deputies that she did not have a driver’s license in the United States, that she did not initially see the emergency lights or hear the siren because her music was loud, but she later acknowledged that she did see the lights but did not know what to do. She then said she had been trying to return to Brooklyn Center but had become lost and was driving her husband’s vehicle.

A records check conducted by authorities showed no Minnesota driver’s license or state driving record on file for Castillo de Bonilla.

Charges Filed

Castillo de Bonilla now faces the following charges:

  • Felony: Fleeing a Peace Officer in a Motor Vehicle

  • Misdemeanor: Driving Without a Valid License for Vehicle Class or Type

  • Misdemeanor: Failure to Stop at Entrance to a Through Highway

  • Petty Misdemeanor: Speeding

Bail Set

Following her arrest, Castillo de Bonilla was transported to the Scott County Jail. She had her bail hearing today, March 13, 2026, where her bail was set at $10,000, or $1,000 cash with conditions, according to court documents. Her next court appearance is set for May 20, 2026.

Under Minnesota law, criminal complaints contain allegations based on probable cause. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
