Farmington Man with Eight Active Felony Warrants Arrested After Allegedly Fleeing Police
Published: March 11, 2026
FARMINGTON, MINNESOTA - A Farmington man with eight active felony warrants was arrested Thursday, after allegedly fleeing from law enforcement during an attempted traffic stop, according to a criminal complaint filed in Dakota County District Court.
Christopher Jason Bergren, 47, of Farmington, has been charged with one felony count of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle stemming from an incident on March 12, 2026, in the city of Farmington. The charge carries a maximum penalty of three years and one day in prison and a fine between $1,500 and $5,000 under Minnesota law.
Officers Recognized Vehicle Linked to Wanted Suspect
According to the criminal complaint, a law enforcement officer was on routine patrol in Farmington when he observed a truck parked in a lot registered to a woman known by law enforcement to have connections with Bergren, as she reportedly shared vehicles and a residence with him. Bergren had multiple active felony warrants at the time.
As the officer passed the truck, he observed a person matching Bergren’s description sitting in the driver’s seat. The truck then turned around, quickly left the area, and pulled into a nearby driveway. Law enforcement followed and visually confirmed that the driver of the truck was Bergren, according to the complaint. Shortly afterward, a white Buick arrived at the residence, driven by the previously mentioned woman. According to the complaint, this woman exited the Buick and moved into the driver’s seat of the truck, while Bergren ran to the Buick and drove away from the residence.
Officers then attempted to stop the Buick.
Suspect Allegedly Accelerated Away From Officer
According to court documents, a squad car pulled alongside the Buick, with its emergency lights activated, to initiate a traffic stop. The officer exited the squad and approached the driver’s side window with his firearm drawn, while another squad vehicle positioned itself in front of the Buick with emergency lights activated.
Authorities say Bergren looked directly at the officer and accelerated away, fleeing from police. A pursuit followed with officers using lights and sirens, and police were ultimately able to stop the vehicle and take Bergren into custody.
Following the stop, Bergren was arrested on eight outstanding felony warrants issued out of Scott County, according to prosecutors. In court filings, prosecutors expressed significant concern about Bergren’s willingness to appear in court.
“The state has significant concerns about securing Defendant’s appearance at future hearings,” the complaint states.
Prosecutors noted that Bergren allegedly fled from law enforcement in this case while already having multiple warrants, which they say demonstrates a lack of willingness to voluntarily engage in the legal process.
Extensive Criminal History Spanning Nearly Two Decades
Court documents also indicate Bergren has an extensive criminal record. Prosecutors noted that his criminal history report is approximately 181 pages long. Public court records show convictions dating back to at least 2008, including multiple felony-level offenses.
Notable convictions listed in court records include:
Felony – Refusal to Submit to Chemical Test (DWI) in 2008
Multiple felony convictions for 5th-degree controlled substance possession involving Schedule I–IV drugs in 2019, 2020, and 2022
Felony receiving stolen property conviction in 2020
Gross misdemeanor violation of a domestic abuse no-contact order in 2022
Misdemeanor domestic assault conviction in 2020
Driving after cancellation – inimical to public safety in 2022
Additional misdemeanor offenses related to driving restrictions involving alcohol or controlled substances
The convictions span offenses involving controlled substances, domestic violence-related violations, theft-related crimes, and impaired driving offenses, according to court records. Prosecutors requested that bail be set at $30,000 without conditions and $15,000 with conditions. The judge agreed and set the bail accordingly. As of writing this story, Bergren has not posted bail and remains in custody at the Dakota County Jail.
He currently faces one felony charge of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle related to the March 12th incident in Farmington. Under Minnesota law, criminal complaints contain allegations based on probable cause. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
