APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA - A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support the family of Ryan Matthew Ebert, the driver critically injured and not expected to survive his injuries, in a serious crash on Monday night involving two vehicles on northbound Cedar Avenue in Apple Valley.

According to the fundraiser, Ryan suffered injuries that are not survivable following the crash, which occurred around 10 p.m. on October 13, 2025. He was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis with life-threatening injuries after his 2024 Ram 1500 collided with a Transit Bus and the cable barrier along Highway 77 (Cedar Avenue).

The St. Cloud Police Department has confirmed that Ebert was an officer with their department and was off duty at the time of the crash. The Minnesota State Patrol initially reported that alcohol was believed to be involved in this crash, but on October 30, 2025, that was updated, and alcohol was no longer believed to be a factor. Instead, they reported that this crash involved an unbelted/unrestrained occupant.

GoFundMe Launched to Support His Children

A close family friend created the online fundraiser to assist Ryan’s two teenage children, Charlie (18) and Brigham (17), as they face what loved ones described as “unexpected and overwhelming challenges.”

According to the GoFundMe description, funds raised will go directly toward:

  • Medical bills

  • Living, travel, and basic needs expenses

  • Support services for Ryan’s children

  • Other unforeseen costs stemming from the crash

“As a devoted father, Ryan’s greatest priority has always been the well-being of his children,” the post reads. “We’re asking for your support to help ensure they have the stability, care, and resources they need during this time of hardship.”

The family expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of community support, asking that friends and supporters keep Ryan, Charlie, and Brigham in their thoughts and prayers.
