ATV Crash in Apple Valley Sends Driver to Hospital with Serious Injuries
APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA—Emergency crews responded to a serious ATV crash in the 13000 block of Holyoke Lane around 6:15 p.m. on Monday evening, August 25, 2025. Apple Valley Fire, Apple Valley Police, and Burnsville Fire were all dispatched to the scene.
According to Apple Valley Police, the crash involved a single ATV, identified as a 2024 Polaris Sportsman 850, carrying both a driver and a juvenile passenger. Investigators say the ATV tipped over while traveling westbound on Holyoke Lane near a home in the 13900 block of Holyoke Lane, causing both occupants to be thrown from the vehicle.
The driver, a 58-year-old man, suffered significant injuries to his head and was transported by Burnsville medics to Regions Hospital in St. Paul for treatment. The juvenile passenger, who sustained abrasions but was able to answer questions and remain alert, ran home immediately after the crash. The parents later took the child to Fairview Ridges Hospital for evaluation.
Police say the ATV was driven away from the scene after the crash by another individual. No citations were issued at this time. According to the crash report from the Apple Valley Police Department, the cause of the incident was listed as careless or negligent operation of a motor vehicle, with speed deemed too fast for conditions. The driver of the ATV was reportedly not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and it was unclear whether the passenger was.
