One Person Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 169 in Shakopee; Southbound Lanes Closed for Investigation

SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA: One person was killed, and another was injured following a multi-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 169 in Shakopee on Monday morning that shut down all southbound lanes for several hours, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 7:56 a.m. on Monday, August 3, 2026, on southbound Highway 169 near Fuller Street. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a Peterbilt semi-truck with a gasoline trailer and a Ford F-150 were traveling southbound on Highway 169 when a Ford Taurus, which had been traveling northbound, left the roadway and crossed through the center median.
Investigators say the Taurus entered the southbound lanes and collided with the trailer of the semi before being struck on the passenger side by the southbound Ford F-150.
The driver of the Taurus sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said the victim's identity has not yet been released pending notification of family members. The driver of the Peterbilt, a 49-year-old of Madison Lake, was not injured in the collision. The driver of the Ford F-150, an 18-year-old of Shakopee, was transported by ambulance to Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) with suspected injuries.
Following the crash, all southbound lanes of Highway 169 were closed between Marschall Road and Marystown Road to allow emergency crews to respond and investigators to document the scene. Officials estimated the closure would remain in place until at least 11 a.m., though motorists were encouraged to seek alternate routes and expect delays in the area.
The circumstances that caused the Taurus to leave the northbound lanes remain under investigation. No additional information has been released regarding contributing factors. The Minnesota State Patrol is continuing to investigate the fatal crash.
Anyone traveling through the area should monitor traffic conditions through MN 511 and follow directions from law enforcement while the investigation and roadway cleanup continue.
