According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 11:47 a.m. near Black Dog Road. Authorities say a vehicle was traveling southbound in the left lane when it struck multiple construction barrels. The vehicle then veered across the center and right lanes before striking a guardrail.

After impacting the guardrail, the vehicle rolled.

The driver, identified as a male, and a female passenger were both reported to have sustained minor injuries.

The State Patrol also reports that impairment is suspected to be a factor in the driver's involvement. No additional details have been released at this time.

COTTAGE GROVE, MN — Just minutes later, a second serious crash was reported in Cottage Grove, in Washington County, prompting another large emergency response.

At approximately 12:04 p.m., Cottage Grove Fire, Cottage Grove Police, and the Minnesota State Patrol were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash on northbound Highway 61 near 70th Street, just south of Summit Avenue. The Cottage Grove Police Department has confirmed that this was a fatal crash, with one driver reported to be deceased.

Ongoing Response and Investigation

The Minnesota State Patrol has deployed reconstruction teams to both crash sites, indicating the seriousness of the incidents and the need for a detailed investigation.
