SOUTH SAINT PAUL MN: A South St. Paul man is facing multiple felony charges in Dakota County District Court after authorities allege he possessed thousands of files containing child sexual abuse material.

According to a criminal complaint, Kyle James Weiss (DOB: 01/19/1996) has been charged with three counts of possession of child sexual abuse material involving a minor under the age of 14. Each count is a felony under Minnesota Statute 617.247.4(b)(3), carrying a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison and/or a fine of $3,000 to $10,000.

The complaint states that on or about July 2, 2025, law enforcement officers executed search warrants on Weiss’s home, vehicle, and person in South St. Paul. The warrants were issued following tips and an investigation related to alleged access of child sexual abuse material.

According to the complaint, when officers made contact with Weiss, he indicated he was aware of the reason for law enforcement’s presence and provided a small amount of controlled substances. During an interview, Weiss initially denied accessing child sexual abuse material, but later admitted he had been led down a “path” of accessing such material and stated he stopped after his Google account was shut down.

Investigators seized multiple electronic devices belonging to Weiss. A forensic review allegedly located more than 4,000 images and videos identified as child sexual abuse material.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
