18-Year-Old St. Louis Park Man Arrested in Eden Prairie High School Homecoming Shooting

EDEN PRAIRIE MN - An 18-year-old St. Louis Park man has been arrested in connection with a shooting outside Eden Prairie High School during its homecoming football game last week that left two people injured and prompted the evacuation of the game.
The Eden Prairie Police Department announced Thursday, October 8, that Adam Abdihakeem Adam, 18, of St. Louis Park, was taken into custody at approximately 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 55 and Penn Avenue in Minneapolis.
Police identified Adam as the suspected shooter in the October 2 incident. He was arrested without incident and is being held at the Hennepin County Jail on probable cause for second-degree assault.
The shooting occurred outside Eden Prairie High School during the school's homecoming football game on Friday, October 2. Two individuals, ages 18 and 17, were injured in the shooting, which prompted authorities to evacuate the football game.
Since the incident, Eden Prairie police investigators have been working alongside multiple law enforcement agencies to identify and locate those believed to be involved.
“The arrest today is an important step in this investigation,” Eden Prairie Police Chief Matt Sackett said in a statement Thursday. “I’m incredibly proud of our officers and investigators who have worked nonstop alongside our law enforcement partners to identify those responsible and hold them accountable.”
Police emphasized that the investigation remains active and that additional arrests or criminal charges are possible.

Adam has been arrested on probable cause but has not been convicted of a crime in connection with this incident. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
