SAINT PAUL MN - A man accused of fleeing from police and resisting arrest in St. Paul allegedly told officers, “This is why people come out and kill you guys,” and said he would finish the “war,” according to a Ramsey County criminal complaint.

Chol Lero Olok, 36, has been charged with felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle and gross misdemeanor obstructing the legal process by interfering with a peace officer.

According to the complaint, officers were stopped in the westbound lane of University Avenue near the Dale Street light rail platform at approximately 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30. Police were preparing a citation for a person who had been detained on the nearby platform.

Prosecutors allege Olok stopped his Nissan Versa next to the squad vehicle, blocking traffic behind him. An officer told Olok to continue driving and not block traffic. Olok allegedly questioned what officers were doing and used profanity toward them.

An officer then approached Olok's vehicle and instructed him to pull into a nearby parking lot. Olok allegedly responded, “Suck my dick, boy,” and began driving away while another officer was standing in front of his vehicle taking a photograph of the license plate.

The complaint alleges the officer yelled for Olok not to hit her and had to move out of the vehicle's path to avoid being struck.

Officers followed Olok and activated their emergency lights near University Avenue and Grotto Street. Traffic forced Olok to stop, and officers approached his vehicle, according to prosecutors.

Olok allegedly drove away again, made a U-turn and pulled into a business parking lot before getting out and walking away from the vehicle.

Police allegedly gave Olok multiple commands to stop, which prosecutors say he ignored. Officers caught up with Olok and brought him to the ground.

The complaint alleges Olok resisted being taken into custody by pulling his arms away, keeping them underneath his body, kicking his legs and attempting to stand. Prosecutors also allege he resisted officers' efforts to place him into a squad vehicle.

Olok later reported having a headache and was evaluated and cleared by medics before being transported to jail, according to the complaint.

While in custody, Olok allegedly called officers “pieces of shit” and “little bitches” and said he would sue them. The complaint alleges he then stated, “This is why people come out and kill you guys,” and said he would finish the “war.”

The felony fleeing charge carries a maximum sentence of three years and one day in prison, a $5,000 fine, or both. The gross misdemeanor obstruction charge carries a maximum sentence of 364 days in jail, a $3,000 fine, or both.

The charges are allegations. Olok is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
