Young Adult From Minneapolis Charged After Allegedly Brandishing a BB Gun During an Apple Valley Confrontation

APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA—A young adult from Minneapolis has been charged with a felony after allegedly brandishing a replica firearm during a late-night confrontation outside a residence in Apple Valley earlier this month.

According to a criminal complaint filed by the Dakota County Attorney’s Office, 18-year-old Bryan Munoz Palacios, of Minneapolis, is charged with Threats of Violence (Replica Firearm or BB Gun) — Disregard Risk of Causing Terror, a felony offense under Minnesota Statute 609.713 subdivision 3(a)(2).

The Incident

According to the criminal complaint, shortly after 12:10 a.m. on October 4, 2025, Apple Valley police were dispatched to a disturbance on Garner Way that reportedly “sounded physical.” Dispatchers advised officers that the suspects had fled the area in a red Genesis sedan with an out-of-state license plate. When officers arrived, they interviewed multiple witnesses who reported that a group of juveniles had shown up at a residence intending to fight. Witnesses said several people exited the red vehicle and began yelling at residents before the confrontation escalated.

One witness told police that Munoz Palacios, who was reportedly wearing all black clothing and a ski mask, lifted his shirt to display what appeared to be a black handgun tucked into his waistband. Another witness stated that the gesture seemed intended as a threat, especially as the confrontation escalated. A third witness reported seeing Munoz Palacios pull out the firearm, wave it around, and point it toward him before the group fled when police were called.

Officers later located the red sedan and several individuals matching witness descriptions at a nearby residence. Munoz Palacios was among those who came to the door when police arrived. Investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence and the vehicle. During the search, officers recovered a tan and black Glock 19X BB gun with a laser attachment and a black ski mask in the backyard.

Bail and Court Conditions

Judge David N. Lutz set bail for Munoz Palacios at $10,000 with conditions or $25,000 without conditions. Court records show he is prohibited from contacting the victims, entering their residence, or possessing any firearms or dangerous weapons. He must also remain in Minnesota unless granted written court approval and comply with all court appearances. Court records indicate that Munoz Palacios has not yet posted bail and remains in custody at the Dakota County Jail.

REMINDER: A criminal complaint is a formal accusation of criminal conduct and does not constitute proof of guilt. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
