Man Arrested After Reported Shooting Outside West St. Paul Speedway

WOODBURY MN: A 43-year-old man was taken into custody Friday morning after allegedly firing a gun outside a West St. Paul convenience store, prompting a large police response and search of the area.

According to the West St. Paul Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 7:21 a.m. on May 29 to a report of shots fired at the Speedway located at 1285 Robert St. S.

Police said an adult male armed with a firearm discharged the weapon at least twice outside the business before fleeing the area on foot. Officers from several surrounding law enforcement agencies assisted in establishing a large perimeter as authorities searched for the suspect.

At approximately 8:29 a.m., officers located the 43-year-old suspect inside a nearby office building and took him into custody without incident.

No injuries were reported in connection with the shooting.

The investigation remains active. Police said the suspect is expected to be transported to and held at the Dakota County Jail pending formal charges.
