Police Stress Scooter and E-Bike Safety
Following the incident, the Inver Grove Heights Police Department is reminding both motorists and riders to exercise extra caution as electric scooters and e-bikes continue to grow in popularity throughout the community.
Officials encouraged everyone using these devices to wear a properly fitted helmet, remain alert, and obey traffic laws. Drivers are also urged to be vigilant for riders, particularly at intersections and residential streets where conflicts are more likely to occur.
Police also encouraged parents to have conversations with their children about safe riding practices, including watching carefully for vehicles, following traffic rules, and understanding how to navigate roadways and intersections safely.
"A few extra seconds of caution can prevent a lifetime of heartache," the department said, urging the community to work together to improve safety for everyone sharing the road.
