LAKEVILLE, MINNESOTA - We have confirmed that a Lakeville man is facing multiple felony charges in Dakota County related to allegations involving the sexual exploitation of very young children, according to a criminal complaint filed in district court on January 30, 2026, and is connected to the BCA investigation in the 17100 block of Dysart Place earlier this week.
Nicholas Roger Goldberg, 30, of Lakeville, has been charged with three counts of Use of a Minor in a Sexual Performance involving a child under the age of 14, all felony-level offenses under Minnesota law.
Court records indicate the alleged incidents occurred on or about December 15, 2025, and January 22, 2026, at a residence in Lakeville. Each count carries a potential sentence of up to 15 years in prison and a fine of $12,000 to $40,000 if convicted.
Investigation Details
According to the complaint, the investigation began on January 28, 2026, after the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension received a report through the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force. The report originated from a social media platform that flagged content believed to involve criminal activity. Law enforcement investigators reviewed digital material associated with the report and identified Goldberg as the individual involved. Authorities allege the content involved inappropriate conduct that occurred inside the family’s residence and involved children under the age of three.
A search warrant was later executed at the Lakeville home, where investigators confirmed that the children depicted were Goldberg’s own young children. Because of the children's age and the nature of the allegations, additional details are not being released.
Prosecutors Cite Ongoing Risk and Investigation
In court filings, prosecutors argue that Goldberg poses a significant risk to children if released and described the alleged conduct as repetitive over an extended period. The state emphasized that the case involves very young victims and that the investigation remains active.
Prosecutors further noted that investigators with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are still analyzing Goldberg's electronic devices, and additional charges may be filed depending on the results of that forensic review.
According to the bail request, Goldberg’s maximum potential sentence exposure across the charged counts is up to 140 months in prison if convicted. The prosecutor requested that bail be set at $300,000 without conditions and $200,000 with conditions. The judge ultimately sided with the prosecutor, and bail was set at $ 300,000 and $ 200,000, respectively.
Goldberg has not posted bail and remains in custody at the Dakota County Jail. The case remains active in Dakota County District Court. This article overviews the allegations and charges against Goldberg. The community is reminded that charges are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Further updates on this case will depend on the progress of the legal proceedings.
