Reported Wrong-Way Driver Causes Two-Vehicle Crash Near County Road 42 & Portland Avenue in Burnsville

BURNSVILLE, MN: A wrong-way driver was involved in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon, July 2, 2026, near County Road 42 and Portland Avenue in Burnsville, according to authorities.
According to Burnsville officials, at approximately 3:48 p.m., officers with the Burnsville Police Department and firefighters from the Burnsville Fire Department were dispatched to a report of a wrong-way driver that ultimately resulted in a collision between two vehicles. The crash occurred near the intersection of County Road 42 and Portland Avenue before the vehicles came to rest in the parking lot of Lunds & Byerlys.
Emergency crews evaluated those involved at the scene. One person was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. A second person was treated for minor injuries but declined transportation to a hospital.
Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances leading up to the crash, and it is unclear what caused the driver to travel the wrong way before the collision.
