DAKOTA COUNTY: A Burnsville resident is facing a felony charge after allegedly leading a Dakota County Sheriff's deputy on a pursuit before crashing in Lakeville late last month.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Dakota County, Fromesa Ahmed Sitina, 18, of Burnsville, has been charged with one count of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, a felony. If convicted, the charge carries a maximum penalty of three years and one day in prison and/or a $5,000 fine.

According to the criminal complaint, the incident occurred at approximately 11:29 p.m. on June 29, 2026, when a Dakota County Sheriff's deputy was on routine patrol in Lakeville.

The complaint states the deputy observed a four-door BMW sedan traveling southbound near 200th Street West at what appeared to be a high rate of speed. Radar allegedly indicated the vehicle was traveling 84 mph in a 55 mph zone. The deputy activated the squad's emergency lights and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.

According to the criminal complaint, the BMW continued accelerating instead of stopping. After the deputy activated the squad's siren, the vehicle turned west onto 215th Street West, and the deputy temporarily lost sight of it.

The complaint states the deputy later spotted what appeared to be the same BMW driving without its headlights on. After the deputy again activated emergency lights and sirens, the vehicle allegedly continued fleeing, exceeded posted speed limits, and drove through a stop sign at Hamburg Avenue and Lakeville Boulevard.

According to the criminal complaint, the pursuit ended when the BMW crashed on the north side of the intersection of Hamburg Avenue and 202nd Street West.

Court documents state three juvenile girls and one adult male exited the crashed vehicle. The driver was identified as Sitina.

According to the criminal complaint, the three passengers told deputies they had met Sitina earlier that evening at Cherry Berry in Lakeville and asked him for a ride. They told investigators they saw the deputy's emergency lights and repeatedly urged Sitina to pull over, but he continued driving. The passengers also stated Sitina allegedly attempted to hide behind a building after turning onto 215th Street West before driving away again when deputies located the vehicle.

The allegations contained in the criminal complaint have not been proven in court. Sitina is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
