SCOTT COUNTY: A 46-year-old Carver County man is facing a felony drug charge after prosecutors allege he sold more than 46 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential source during a controlled drug purchase in Scott County.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Scott County, Anthony Robert Pearson, 46, has been charged with one count of first-degree sale of a controlled substance. The charge alleges Pearson unlawfully sold a total of 46.019 grams of methamphetamine within a 90-day period. If convicted, the offense carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison, a $1 million fine, or both.

According to the complaint, Scott County deputies were contacted in late 2025 by a confidential source who reported that Pearson was involved in the use and sale of methamphetamine in the community.

Prosecutors allege that during the first week of March 2026, the confidential source told investigators Pearson contacted them and offered to sell approximately two ounces of methamphetamine for between $300 and $360.

Investigators with the Scott County Sheriff's Office and the Southwest Metro Drugs Task Force reportedly searched the confidential source before the operation, equipped them with a GPS tracker and recording device, and maintained surveillance as they traveled to a predetermined meeting location in Scott County.

According to the complaint, investigators observed Pearson arrive in a white Dodge Durango. The confidential source entered the passenger side of the vehicle for several minutes before returning to their own vehicle. Agents then recovered approximately two ounces of suspected methamphetamine from the confidential source.

The confidential source told investigators the drug sale occurred inside Pearson's vehicle and later identified Pearson from a photograph, according to the complaint. The source also stated the agreed-upon price increased from $300 to $360 in exchange for a slightly smaller amount than the originally discussed two ounces.

The complaint states the suspected drugs were submitted to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension forensic laboratory. On March 20, 2026, investigators received laboratory results identifying the substance as methamphetamine weighing 46.019 grams.

According to court documents, investigators also obtained a search warrant on March 5, 2026, authorizing the installation of a GPS tracking device on Pearson's Dodge Durango. The tracker remained in place until March 24, when investigators learned the vehicle had been sold to a salvage yard and removed the device.

The complaint further alleges the confidential source later reported Pearson continued using methamphetamine but was unsure whether he was still selling large quantities. The source also allegedly told investigators Pearson used coded language, including references to "selling 3 pounds of potatoes," which investigators believed referred to drug sales.

Investigators also received community complaints during June 2026 regarding suspected drug activity at Pearson's residence, according to the complaint.

On July 1, 2026, investigators arrested Pearson at his residence. The complaint states a separate search warrant executed in Carver County resulted in additional drug and firearm charges that are being handled separately in Carver County.

The allegations contained in the criminal complaint are accusations, and Pearson is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
