Eagan Man is Facing Child Abuse Charges After a Young Child Was Found Alone After Fleeing Home

Published: November 26, 2025.

EAGAN, MINNESOTA— An Eagan father already awaiting sentencing in a domestic-related threats case is once again facing criminal charges, this time accused of violently punishing his son, prompting one of his younger children to flee the home and be found wandering alone roughly a mile away.

According to newly filed Dakota County court records, 31-year-old Anthony Michael Hahn has been charged with gross misdemeanor malicious punishment of a child following a November 23, 2,025, incident that officers say exposed long-term physical and emotional abuse inside the household.

This marks the second domestic-related case involving Hahn this year, and court filings suggest his behavior has been escalating.

Child Found Walking Alone; Reports Abuse at Home

At approximately 2:25 p.m. on November 23, an Eagan police officer located a young child walking by himself near Lexington Avenue. The child had walked nearly one mile from his home, telling officers that his father, Hahn, had been yelling and had grabbed his older brother’s arm “very hard.”

Concerned for the welfare of the sibling, officers went to the family’s residence, where the older child, identified in court documents as Victim A, described a violent confrontation that occurred moments earlier.

Victim A told officers that Hahn became enraged because the dishes were not washed quickly enough. According to the complaint, Hahn grabbed the child’s arm, twisted it, and slammed it onto the top of the oven. According to the court documents, Hahn then threatened to “snap his arm in half'” and yelled profanities during the incident.

The juvenile also reported a pattern of longstanding physical abuse, telling officers that Hahn allegedly had previously thrown him to the ground, causing bruises, restrained him while forcing a younger sibling to punch him in the face and body, and Hahn allegedly justified the assaults by saying he wanted to “make them into men.”

Victim A additionally reported that Hahn uses methamphetamine in the home and often becomes angry after using drugs. He told police he had witnessed Hahn smoking from a glass meth pipe. He also said Hahn routinely demeaned him, called him derogatory names, and once told him that he killed Victim A’s mother and dumped her in a river.

The court documents allege that Hahn denied being abusive, telling officers he was patient with the children and was preparing to call police himself when the younger child ran from the home.

Charges and Bail Conditions

In this case, Hahn is charged with Gross Misdemeanor Malicious Punishment of a Child, punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine of $900 to $3,000.

Citing Hahn’s history and danger to his children, prosecutors requested high bail without alternatives. The judge ultimately sided with the prosecution, and bail was set at $15,000 without conditions and $10,000 with conditions.

The Dakota County Attorney’s Office argued the conditions were necessary, writing that Hahn poses a “clear threat” to his children and their mother and noting that this newest offense occurred while he awaited sentencing in a separate case.

Second Case: Graphic Threats, Harassment, and a Pending Sentencing

In an early case that we have previously covered, court records show the earlier case stems from a March 4, 2025, incident in Burnsville in which Hahn allegedly sent the victim a series of violent and disturbing messages, including a death threat. According to court documents, on November 17, 2025, a guilty plea petition was filed in that case. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for January 28, 2026.

The Dakota County Attorney’s Office highlights this earlier case as evidence of Hahn’s “increasingly erratic” and dangerous behavior. Court records show that Hahn has not posted bail and remains in custody at the Dakota County Jail.

This article provides an overview of the allegations against Hahn, detailing the charges, evidence, and potential legal outcomes. The community is reminded that charges are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Further updates on this case will depend on the progress of the legal proceedings.
