HASTINGS MN: An 18-year-old woman is facing a felony charge after allegedly assaulting a correctional deputy inside the Dakota County Jail, according to a criminal complaint filed in Dakota County.

According to the complaint, on April 28, 2026, a deputy with the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office responded to the jail for a report of an assault that occurred within the facility’s intensive housing unit.

The complaint states that the victim, identified as a correctional deputy employed at the jail, reported she was working in the unit when Erika Alexandra Aguilar (DOB: July 1, 2007) struck her in the face. The deputy reported experiencing a sharp pain in her cheek followed by a throbbing sensation after being hit.

The responding deputy observed a red mark on the victim’s cheek that appeared swollen, according to the complaint.

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage from inside the jail, which the complaint states shows Aguilar sitting on a table while speaking with two correctional deputies before allegedly swinging her arm and striking the victim in the face.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
