Latest on Vehicle Fire on Northbound I-35E Near Lone Oak Road in Eagan

EAGAN, MINNESOTA — Law enforcement is investigating a crash and vehicle fire that occurred on northbound I-35E near Lone Oak Road late Thursday morning.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the fire was reported at approximately 10:20 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2026, involving a delivery van that crashed and subsequently caught fire. Preliminary information indicates the crash was likely caused by a mechanical failure. The van was deemed a total loss due to the fire. No injuries were reported.

Emergency crews from the Eagan Fire Department, the Eagan Police Department, M Health medics, and the Minnesota State Patrol responded to the scene, which was located in the middle lanes of northbound I-35E.

Due to the crash and fire, northbound I-35E was reduced to one lane while crews worked to manage the scene and clear the roadway, which caused delays into the late morning and early afternoon on Thursday.

The crash and fire remain under investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
