EAGAN, MINNESOTA - A 32-year-old Eagan man is facing a felony charge after allegedly fleeing police in a vehicle without functioning rear lights, leading officers on a brief pursuit that ended in a collision, according to a criminal complaint filed Tuesday in Dakota County District Court.
Daniel Andres Sanchez-Agredo, of Eagan, has been charged with felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, a crime punishable by up to three years and one day in prison and/or a fine of up to $5,000.
Incident Began With Missing Headlights and Taillights
According to the complaint, the incident occurred at approximately 5:20 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025, when an Eagan police officer observed a vehicle operating without rear lights illuminated in dark conditions. Officers reported that the vehicle appeared to rely solely on its daytime running lights.
Police followed the car into a nearby parking lot and activated their emergency lights. Instead of stopping, the driver, later identified as Sanchez-Agredo, continued through the lot and exited while accelerating. Officers then activated their siren as the vehicle increased speed to approximately 50 mph, according to court records.
Crash Occurred After Officers Lost Sight of Vehicle
Due to poor road conditions, officers elected not to pursue the vehicle but instead attempted to maintain visual contact. They temporarily lost sight of the fleeing vehicle, which they later located, moments after it reportedly collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Yankee Doodle Road and Discovery Road. The crash partially blocked the westbound lanes of Yankee Doodle. No injuries were reported as a result of the crash.
When officers arrived at the crash scene, they saw a male passenger exit the vehicle and run, following another individual who had also fled on foot.
A witness reported seeing two individuals running toward the rear of the nearby Carriage Hills Apartments to the south. Officers followed fresh footprints in the snow, which led them to Sanchez-Agredo, who was found behind the building and taken into custody.
According to the complaint, Sanchez-Agredo admitted to officers that he had been driving the vehicle and acknowledged he was aware police were attempting to stop him.
Bail Requested
Prosecutors have requested that bail be set at $20,000 without conditions and $15,000 with conditions. The judge ultimately set bail at $10,000 without conditions and $5,000 with conditions. As of the writing of this story, Sanchez-Agredo remains in custody at the Dakota County Jail and has not posted bail.
