WEST ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA—An early morning fire damaged several units and displaced residents at Eagle Pointe Apartments in the 2000 block of Oakdale Avenue, after flames spread through part of the complex just after midnight on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025.
The incident was first reported around 12:15 a.m., prompting a joint response from South Metro Fire and Inver Grove Heights Fire for a structure fire with flames visible on the third floor and roof of the building. Police and fire crews arrived on scene around 12:19 a.m., confirming a working fire on the second floor on the northwest side of the complex. Firefighters reported flames extending to the third floor and the roofline, prompting an immediate upgrade to a second alarm at 12:20 a.m. That upgrade to a second alarm brought mutual aid from Eagan Fire, Mendota Heights Fire, and Cottage Grove Fire.
Fire crews knocked the fire down by around 12:35 AM, with crews checking for extension into the roof of the apartment complex.
South Metro Fire Deputy Chief Mark Erickson said the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Erickson confirmed that at least one person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
While a full damage estimate is not yet available, Erickson reported that the fire caused significant exterior damage, as well as smoke and fire damage to two apartments. Additionally, one unit and the central hallways sustained water damage during firefighting operations. Residents from the three affected units have been displaced.
Further updates will be provided as the investigation into the cause of the fire continues.
