Farmington Man Charged With Second-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct Involving 12-Year-Old

FARMINGTON, MINNESOTA: A 19-year-old Farmington man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after Dakota County prosecutors charged him with felony second-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a girl who was 12 years old at the time of the alleged offenses.
Mason Michael Homick, 19, is charged with one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a victim under the age of 14 where the accused is more than 36 months older than the victim. The charge was filed Tuesday, Aug. 25, in Dakota County District Court. Dakota County jail records show Homick was arrested at approximately 3 p.m. Tuesday.
According to the criminal complaint, Farmington police began investigating on Dec. 10, 2025, after receiving a report of alleged prior sexual abuse involving a girl who was 13 years old when the report was made. Investigators identified Homick as the suspect. The alleged incidents occurred during September and October 2025 at a residence in Farmington, according to the complaint. The girl was 12 years old at the time.
Investigation Included Forensic Interview, Text Messages
During a forensic interview, the girl alleged that she and Homick had sexual contact on multiple occasions. The criminal complaint contains additional details regarding the alleged sexual conduct that Limitless Media News is not publishing due to the age of the alleged victim. Investigators also reviewed text messages exchanged between Homick and the girl that prosecutors say included discussions consistent with the allegations made during the investigation.
Police later interviewed Homick. According to the complaint, Homick initially denied having sexual intercourse with the girl. After investigators confronted him with the text messages, prosecutors allege Homick acknowledged having sexual intercourse with her on at least one occasion. The complaint states Homick told investigators he initially denied the conduct because he did not want to go to jail.
Prosecutors state that Homick and the girl are approximately five years and eight months apart in age, or approximately 68 months.
Criminal Charge Filed, Warrant Issued
Homick is charged with one felony count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a victim under 14 where the accused is more than 36 months older. The complaint lists the alleged offense period as approximately Sept. 1 through Oct. 31, 2025.
The felony charge carries a statutory maximum sentence of 25 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $35,000.
A Dakota County judge found probable cause to support the charge and issued a warrant for Homick's arrest Tuesday. The warrant directed law enforcement to apprehend Homick and bring him before the court.
The complaint was approved by prosecutor Natalie Staeheli Tuesday morning. Farmington Police Detective Aaron Craven signed the complaint, and District Court Judge Paula Duggan Vraa electronically signed the warrant at 11:16 a.m. Dakota County jail records show Homick was arrested later Tuesday afternoon, at approximately 3 p.m.
Prosecutors Request Up to $250,000 Bail
The Dakota County Attorney's Office is requesting that Homick be held on $250,000 bail without conditions or $175,000 bail with conditions.
Under the conditional bail recommendation, prosecutors are asking that Homick have no contact with the alleged victim and stay away from the victim's residence and a one-mile radius surrounding it. Prosecutors are also requesting that Homick have no unsupervised contact with minors and not use internet communications or computers to communicate with minors. He would additionally be prohibited from possessing firearms, ammunition, explosives or dangerous weapons.
The bail amounts and conditions are recommendations from prosecutors and are subject to the court's determination.
The case was investigated by the Farmington Police Department and is being prosecuted by the Dakota County Attorney's Office.
The allegations contained in the criminal complaint are accusations and have not been proven in court. Homick is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
