Farmington Fire Responds to Gas Leak and Townhome Fire on Euclid Path

Published: August 16, 2026

FARMINGTON, MN: Farmington firefighters found themselves handling two incidents nearly across the street from one another Monday morning after a reported gas leak was followed minutes later by a working fire in a townhome.

The Farmington Fire Department was initially dispatched at approximately 9:47 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17, to the 18500 block of Euclid Path after a gas line was reportedly struck. Crews responded to the area to monitor the leak while they waited for the gas utility company to arrive. Just minutes later, at approximately 9:54 a.m., Farmington and Lakeville firefighters were dispatched to a reported structure fire at a townhome almost directly across the street from the gas leak.

By approximately 9:57 a.m., the first firefighters to arrive at the townhome reported smoke coming from the front of the residence and confirmed a working fire. The response was quickly upgraded to a second alarm, bringing additional mutual aid resources from the Lakeville and Apple Valley fire departments.

Despite the unusual circumstances of firefighters simultaneously dealing with a gas leak and a structure fire in close proximity, Farmington Fire Chief Matt Price told Limitless Media News that the gas leak did not require crews to alter their firefighting tactics.

“Due to the structure that had the fire was outside the control area of the gas leak our tactics did not have to change,” Price said. “We had crews on scene of the gas leak monitoring until the leak was controlled by the gas company.”

Firefighters were able to bring the townhome fire under control relatively quickly. The fire was reported out at approximately 10:12 a.m., roughly 15 minutes after arriving crews confirmed it was a working fire. Fire units that had been requested as part of the additional response but had not yet arrived were subsequently told they could cancel.

Initial information from the scene indicated the fire appeared to have been contained to the involved townhome unit. Chief Price confirmed the incident reached a second-alarm response and said no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No preliminary cause was immediately available Monday.

The gas leak was also brought under control by the gas company while firefighters remained at the scene to monitor conditions.

The close timing and proximity of the two incidents led to a significant emergency response in the neighborhood Monday morning, but officials have not indicated that the gas leak and the townhome fire were related.

Limitless Media News will provide additional information, if available, regarding the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage.
