Farmington Launches Annual Halloween Havoc and Holiday Lights Tours

FARMINGTON, MINNESOTA – The City of Farmington’s Parks and Recreation Department is once again inviting residents to celebrate the spooky and festive seasons with two beloved community traditions, the Halloween Havoc Tour and the Holiday Lights Tour.

The Halloween Havoc Tour kicked off on Monday, October 13, and runs through Friday, October 31. Now in its fourth year, the self-guided event allows residents to explore the city and enjoy homes creatively decorated in eerie, fun, and imaginative Halloween displays.

“This is one of our favorite events to host each year,” said Emilee Shearer, Recreation Supervisor for Farmington Parks and Recreation. “The community wholeheartedly supports the Farmington Food Shelf and local pet shelters through this event, and it’s been wonderful to see more residents getting involved. We have even more houses registered this year than ever before and can’t wait to see everyone’s spooky creativity on display.”

Participants can access a virtual map of registered locations at FarmingtonMN.gov/Halloween, which includes addresses, photos, and additional notes from homeowners, such as synchronized light shows or special effects. A few locations are collecting donations for local food shelters, and one is collecting donations for the local animal rescue, Midwest Animal Rescue Services (MARS).

Following the Halloween fun, the city will transition into the holiday season with the Holiday Lights Tour, beginning Monday, December 1. Residents who want to show off their festive spirit can sign up starting October 20, with registration closing Monday, November 17.

The city will again create a virtual map highlighting participating homes for the community to tour throughout December. Organizers encourage participants to “let your inner Clark Griswold shine” and join in spreading cheer with bright, creative, and festive holiday displays.

Homes must have their decorations ready by December 1 to be included in the map.
