Farmington Police Search for Armed Suspect Following Vehicle Repossession Incident
FARMINGTON, MINNESOTA—Several law enforcement agencies assisted the Farmington Police Department late Saturday night, July 26, 2025, after a tow truck driver reported an individual brandishing a firearm during a vehicle repossession.
According to the Farmington Police Department, the incident occurred around 10 p.m. in the area of 220th Street and the old Fountain Valley Golf Course. Officers say the tow truck operator was in the process of repossessing a vehicle when the vehicle’s owner, a known suspect, came out and allegedly brandished a gun. Police said the suspect showed a gun, but didn’t point the gun at the tow truck driver. Fearing for his safety, the tow truck driver released the vehicle, and the suspect quickly drove away with it. Responding officers soon located the suspect’s vehicle abandoned nearby. A perimeter was immediately established, and a coordinated search effort began. A shelter-in-place order was also issued for the surrounding area.
Rough location of the search area.
Multiple agencies, including neighboring police departments, K9 units, and the Minnesota State Patrol's air support, assisted in the search. Despite an extensive effort, the suspect was not located.
Farmington Police stated that the suspect is known to law enforcement and has multiple outstanding warrants. However, they did not provide the suspect’s name at this time. Investigators do not believe the suspect remains in the area, but continue to search for him actively.
Anyone with information related to the incident or who sees any suspicious activity in the area should contact 911. No injuries were reported, and the investigation remains ongoing.
