One Injured in Four-Vehicle Crash at Apple Valley-Lakeville Border Saturday Evening
LAKEVILLE, MINNESOTA—Emergency crews responded to a multi-vehicle crash along the Apple Valley–Lakeville border just after 6 p.m. Saturday.
The incident occurred at the intersection of 160th Street West and Galaxie Avenue, involving four vehicles. Apple Valley Fire, Apple Valley Police, ALF Ambulance, and Lakeville Police were initially dispatched to the scene. Due to jurisdictional coverage, the Lakeville Fire Department also responded shortly after, as the crash site technically falls within Lakeville's fire service area.
According to law enforcement, one person sustained significant injuries and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, stating the individual suffered a broken leg. Witnesses on the scene believe the person may have also sustained a broken arm.
Initial witness reports suggest the crash was caused by a driver traveling westbound on 160th Street West who was attempting a left turn onto Galaxie for the Lakeville Liquors–Galaxie . The driver reportedly had a flashing yellow arrow and tried to make the turn despite limited visibility. During the turn, the driver failed to yield to an oncoming eastbound vehicle that had the right of way with a green light. The impact from the collision pushed one of the vehicles into two others that were stopped at the intersection, waiting to go northbound on Galaxie out of the liquor store lot. The eastbound vehicle came to a stop just beyond the intersection following the crash.
Lakeville Police are leading the investigation into the incident. Further details will be released as they become available.
