Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on I-35E in Burnsville

EAGAN/BURNSVILLE, MN: A 29-year-old man from Burnsville was killed Tuesday night following a motorcycle crash along I-35E that led to major traffic disruptions in the area, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 9:35 p.m. on April 21, 2026, along southbound I-35E, just south of Highway 77, just past where the ramp from southbound Highway 77 and southbound I-35E come together in Dakota County.

According to the State Patrol, the rider was operating a 2020 Suzuki GSX-S motorcycle when the bike left the roadway after driving into a gravel and dirt area. Authorities say the rider lost control and was thrown from the motorcycle before it came to rest between the left shoulder and the right-side ditch. Road conditions at the time of the crash were reported as dry.

The crash was reported as fatal. The identity of the rider has not yet been released and is expected to be made public later.

Emergency responders from multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Eagan Police Department, Eagan Fire Department, Apple Valley Police Department, and M Health Fairview EMS. The Hennepin County medical examiner was also called to the scene.

The crash caused significant delays along southbound I-35E on Tuesday night as crews worked at the scene and investigated the incident.

The incident remains under review.
