ORIGINAL STORY - NEW MARKET TOWNSHIP, MINNESOTA - The Scott County Sheriff’s Department reports that a pedestrian performing survey work was struck and killed late Monday morning, September 8, 2025, in New Market Township.
At approximately 11:50 a.m., dispatchers received a 911 call reporting the incident near the intersection of Texas Avenue and 230th Street East. Deputies say a 2025 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by a 58-year-old man from Lonsdale, was traveling northbound on Texas Avenue when it struck the victim, a 44-year-old Minneapolis man. His identity will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office after positive identification and notification of family.
The driver of the Equinox was wearing a seat belt and was uninjured. Authorities noted that alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been factors in the crash.
“This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the victim’s family and loved ones,” Sheriff Luke Hennen said in a statement. “Whether it’s a pedestrian, a bicyclist, or someone working along the roadway, drivers must always remain alert and attentive to help prevent tragedies like this.”
