EAGAN, MINNESOTA — A large structure fire prompted a massive multi-agency response Friday afternoon at Grace Slavic Church, located in the 1900 block of Diffley Road at the corner of Rahn Road and Diffley Road in Eagan, Minnesota.
According to initial scanner traffic from Dakota County Dispatch, the call came in at approximately 4:10 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025, when Eagan Fire, Burnsville Fire, Eagan Police, and M Health Fairview medics were first paged to the scene. Due to the fire's scale and number of calls confirming the working fire, the response was quickly upgraded to second and third alarms, bringing in extensive mutual aid from surrounding communities.
Responding fire departments included Apple Valley Fire, Bloomington Fire, Richfield Fire, South Metro Fire, Inver Grove Heights Fire, and Mendota Heights Fire. The Minnesota State Patrol also responded to help provide traffic control, along with the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority (MVTA), which provided a bus on scene to assist with firefighter rehabilitation during the extended incident. Eagan Public Works was called to the scene to provide salt and sand due to slick conditions caused by water and cold temperatures.
Dakota County dispatchers reported receiving more than two dozen 911 calls, with multiple callers describing flames visible from the rear of the building and fire breaking through the roof. While en route to the fire from Apple Valley, Limitless Media journalists saw a thick column of black smoke rising from the area, visible from surrounding neighborhoods.
Fire officials and the Grace Skavic Church have confirmed there were no injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Fire crews continue to work the scene. Roads in the immediate area of the fire scene have been closed to provide fire crews with space to work.
This is a developing story, and we have reached out to the Eagan Fire Department for more information. Updates will be provided as additional information becomes available from fire officials and law enforcement.
