CRYSTAL MN: A police K9 helped officers track down a suspect who tried to hide inside a recycling bin after fleeing from a stolen vehicle over the weekend.

According to the Crystal Police Department, Hennepin County deputies were following a stolen vehicle that was known to have previously fled from law enforcement. During the incident, the driver abandoned the vehicle and ran from deputies on foot.

Officers set up a perimeter in the neighborhood while additional resources responded to assist with the search. Officer Callan and K9 Ace arrived to help locate the suspect.

Ace picked up the suspect’s scent and tracked him a few houses away, eventually leading officers to a recycling bin where the suspect had attempted to hide.

Police say Ace jumped on top of the bin, barking and trying to get inside. Fortunately for the suspect, the K9 did not manage to enter the bin. Officers then directed the suspect to come out, and he was taken into custody without further incident.
