Lakeville Police Issue Shelter-in-Place During Incident Involving Man in Possible Crisis

LAKEVILLE, MINNESOTA— A brief shelter-in-place alert was issued Friday evening, November 28, 2025, during an incident in which Lakeville Police officers responded to a report of an adult male in a possible crisis.
According to officials with the Lakeville Police Department, officers were dispatched around 5:00 p.m. to a residence in the 16100 block of Inverness Way after receiving information that an adult male may be in crisis. While law enforcement was gathering information on the situation, they were informed that the individual might have potential access to firearms. Out of an abundance of caution, the department requested additional public safety resources, resulting in a notable police presence in the neighborhood.
As officers worked to assess the situation safely, a “Shelter in Place” alert was issued at approximately 5:45 p.m. to residents in the immediate area. The alert was intended to keep bystanders away from the scene and ensure the safety of both the public and responding personnel while the incident was unfolding.

During their response, officers gathered more information and determined that no criminal activity had occurred and that the individual did not pose a threat to others. Police emphasized that the primary focus was on ensuring the man's well-being and protecting nearby residents during the investigation.
By 6:30 p.m., officers cleared the scene and lifted the shelter-in-place order.
