CHANHASSEN MN: A Carver County man is facing a first-degree burglary charge after he allegedly entered an attached porch of a Chanhassen residence while the homeowners were inside the home, according to a criminal complaint filed in Carver County.
According to the complaint, at approximately 8:00 p.m. on May 3, 2026, the Carver County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a possible burglary at a home on Foxford Road in Chanhassen. The reporting parties described a male wearing a black top and yellow pants and provided a direction of travel.
Deputy VanderPlas located a male matching that description nearby, later identified as Aaron Andrew Jacobson (DOB 03/08/1995). According to the complaint, Jacobson was walking with his hands raised when he was detained and frisked. During the pat-down, deputies located a large folding knife in his front pocket.
The complaint states that homeowners provided Ring security footage showing Jacobson entering an unlocked three-season porch attached to the residence before jumping off and walking away. Both homeowners were inside the home at the time of the incident.
Jacobson told deputies he had previously lived at the residence prior to 2019 and had walked from Chaska to check if anyone was living there. He stated he only looked through a window and left after noticing occupants inside, according to the complaint.
Jacobson also referenced a girlfriend and provided deputies with a phone number for a woman identified as E.R. According to the complaint, E.R. told deputies she barely knew Jacobson and that he had previously approached her at her workplace. She reported that Jacobson called her around 7:40 p.m. and told her to come to Chanhassen, stating, “pull up to the house. I just got this new mansion, it’s 4 stories.”
Jacobson has been charged in Carver County District Court with first-degree burglary in connection with the incident.
The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
