EAGAN MN: A man was taken into custody late Tuesday night after allegedly fleeing from police during an attempted traffic stop in Eagan.

According to a criminal complaint, at approximately 11:21 p.m., an officer attempted to stop a vehicle near Pilot Knob Road and Yankee Doodle Road after determining the registered owner’s driver’s license was revoked and observing traffic violations, including improper turns from a center lane.

The driver, later identified as Justin Allen Ackerman, 31, instead turned into a nearby transit center and began accelerating away from the officer. Despite emergency lights and sirens being activated, Ackerman continued driving through the transit center parking lot without stopping.

Authorities say the vehicle was eventually driven toward a snowbank, where Ackerman exited and fled on foot as officers ordered him to stop.

Officers later located Ackerman near Interstate 35E and took him into custody without further incident.

While being arrested, Ackerman allegedly made an unsolicited statement indicating he had active warrants. He also told officers he had dropped his glasses and a plastic baggie while running from police. Officers recovered a plastic baggie along his path, but it was found open and its contents could not be located due to the snow.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

Charges related to the incident are pending. As with all criminal cases, Ackerman is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
