ANOKA COUNTY: The fire chief of the Maple Grove Fire Department has been charged in Anoka County with one felony count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, according to a criminal complaint filed in district court.
The complaint charges Maddison Michael Zikmund with third-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a 16- or 17-year-old while in a position of authority.
According to the criminal complaint, the alleged offense occurred between March 1, 2017, and July 31, 2017, in Anoka County. Prosecutors allege Zikmund engaged in sexual penetration with a person who was at least 16 but younger than 18 years old. The complaint further alleges Zikmund was more than 48 months older than the complainant and was in a position of authority over the individual at the time of the alleged offense.
Under Minnesota law, third-degree criminal sexual conduct under these circumstances is a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison, a fine of up to $30,000, or both, if convicted.
The criminal complaint represents allegations filed by prosecutors. Zikmund is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
