RICHFIELD MN: A Minneapolis man is facing two gross misdemeanor charges after authorities allege he was looking through the windows of a Richfield residence before officers allegedly found methamphetamine in his possession.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Hennepin County District Court, Michael John Daly, of Minneapolis, has been charged with one count of interference with privacy by allegedly peering through the window of a dwelling and one count of fifth-degree controlled substance possession.
According to the complaint, Richfield police were dispatched at approximately 10:23 p.m. on June 24 to the 6500 block of 5th Avenue South after a caller reported suspicious activity. The reporting party allegedly told dispatchers that a man was wandering outside, appeared to be under the influence of drugs, was looking through windows at a nearby residence, and was on the caller's property.
Officers responded and located the man, who was identified as Daly. According to the complaint, officers also spoke with a resident of the home whose windows were allegedly being watched. The resident reportedly told police she had never met Daly, had not given him permission to be on her property, and had not authorized him to look through the home's windows.
Police arrested Daly at the scene.
According to the complaint, during a search following the arrest, an officer found a folded $10 bill inside Daly's front jeans pocket. Inside the bill, the officer allegedly discovered a crystal-like powder suspected to be methamphetamine. The substance weighed approximately 0.07 grams and field-tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the complaint.
Daly is charged with gross misdemeanor interference with privacy and gross misdemeanor fifth-degree controlled substance possession.
