Woman Dies After Shooting Inside Minneapolis Apartment, Suspect Sought

MINNEAPOLIS: A woman died after being shot inside a Minneapolis apartment Thursday evening, according to the Minneapolis Police Department.

Police said officers from the Fifth Precinct responded at approximately 5:35 p.m. to a report of a shooting at an apartment building located at 2435 Pillsbury Ave. S. Officers arriving at the scene located a woman suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds and immediately began providing medical aid.

The woman was transported to Hennepin Healthcare, where she later died.

According to Minneapolis police, preliminary information indicates an argument inside the apartment escalated to gunfire. The suspected shooter reportedly left the scene before officers arrived.

Homicide investigators are continuing to work to determine the sequence of events that led up to the shooting. MPD Forensic Scientists also processed the scene and collected evidence.

“Tragically, another person has lost their life after a firearm was apparently used during an altercation,” Chief Brian O’Hara said in a statement. “This is a senseless loss of life, and our investigators will take all necessary steps to ensure the person responsible is held accountable.”

The incident remains under investigation. The MPD incident number is 26-121615.
