DAKOTA & SCOTT COUNTY, MINNESOTA - Football fans across the south metro will have another option for getting to Minnesota Gophers and Minnesota Vikings games this season, with the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority offering express bus service to every home game.

MVTA announced it will provide round-trip express transportation to both Gophers and Vikings home games, with service originating from park-and-ride and transit stations in Apple Valley, Burnsville, Eagan and Shakopee.

The service gives fans an alternative to driving into Minneapolis and dealing with traffic and parking near Huntington Bank Stadium and U.S. Bank Stadium.

$6 Round-Trip Fare

Round-trip fare for MVTA's game-day express service is $6 per rider. Passengers can purchase their fare through the RideMVTA mobile app, available on Apple and Android devices. Riders can also pay $6 in exact cash when boarding the bus.

MVTA notes that drivers are unable to make change, so passengers paying cash should have the exact fare ready when they board.

Where Fans Can Catch the Bus

MVTA will operate two routes serving four south metro locations.

The Purple Route will pick up and drop off passengers at:

  • Southbridge Crossings Park & Ride: 1401 Crossings Boulevard, Shakopee

  • Burnsville Transit Station: 100 East Highway 13, Burnsville

The Green Route will serve:

  • Eagan Transit Station: 3470 Pilot Knob Road, Eagan

  • Apple Valley Transit Station: 15450 Cedar Avenue South, Apple Valley

Specific departure and pickup times will vary depending on the game.

Transportation Directly to Stadium Areas

For Minnesota Gophers football games, MVTA buses will drop passengers off next to Huntington Bank Stadium on the University of Minnesota campus.

For Minnesota Vikings games, passengers will be dropped off at the Gateway Parking Ramp, located near U.S. Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis.

Following each game, riders will board at the same location where they were dropped off.

Return buses are scheduled to depart 30 minutes after the game ends, allowing passengers time to leave the stadium and return to the designated pickup location.

Gateway Parking Ramp

The express service will begin with the start of the teams' home schedules in September. The Minnesota Gophers' first home game is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 3, while the Minnesota Vikings' first home game is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 13.

MVTA plans to provide the express service for all Gophers and Vikings home games throughout the season.

Fans planning to use the service are encouraged to check departure times before each game, as pickup schedules depend on kickoff times. You can find those details here: VIKINGS FOOTBALL | GOPHER FOOTBALL
