Raccoon Found in Flooded New Brighton Apartment, Safely Released

New Brighton, MN — New Brighton Department of Public Safety crews responding to a report of water leaking into an apartment unit encountered an unexpected occupant: a raccoon.

According to public safety officials, units were dispatched after a resident reported water entering an apartment. Once crews gained entry, they found a raccoon perched atop a cabinet inside the flooded unit, apparently attempting to stay dry.

The animal was safely captured and later released back into the wild. After the raccoon was removed, firefighters focused on water mitigation efforts inside the apartment.
