Road Rage Incident Leads to Charges in Inver Grove Heights
INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA - On August 18, 2025, Inver Grove Heights police responded to a report of a road rage incident along Babcock Trail. According to a criminal complaint from the Dakota County Attorney’s Office, the victim told officers that a driver followed him closely, passed illegally, and later pointed a handgun in his direction.
Police located the suspect vehicle nearby and identified the driver as Erica E.V. Morris, 28, of South St Paul, Minnesota. Officers reported finding a Smith & Wesson M&P 9 Shield handgun under the driver’s seat, with a magazine nearby and a bullet chambered.
The complaint states that Morris declined to give a formal statement but allegedly told officers, “I got anger problems” and “Y’all further pissing me off.”
The victim reported that Morris pulled off the road, pointed the firearm out a window, and made a firing motion as he drove past. He later called 911 from an apartment complex.
Based on these allegations, prosecutors have charged Morris with Threats of Violence (Intent to Terrorize). The judge set bail for Morris at $30,000 without conditions and $10,000 with conditions. Court records show they have not posted bail and remain in custody at the Dakota County Jail.
It is important to note that the charge is based on probable cause outlined in the complaint. Morris is charged, not convicted, and is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
