LATEST UPDATE - September 25th: In a new update released on Thursday, September 25, the Savage Police Department confirmed that the investigation into the infant’s death at Rocking Horse Ranch Childcare remains active and ongoing. Police said investigators attended the autopsy, but final results and toxicology findings may take several months to complete.

Detectives have interviewed multiple individuals, carefully examined the childcare facility, and submitted evidence to the state laboratory for further testing. Officials stressed that no potential causes are being ruled out at this time. Out of respect for the family and in accordance with state law, the infant’s name will not be released publicly.

ORIGINAL STORY - SAVAGE, MINNESOTA—Authorities with the Savage Police Department announced they are investigating the death of an infant that occurred at Rocking Horse Ranch Childcare on Monday, September 22, 2025. Rocking Horse Ranch Childcare is located in the 14000 block of Louisiana Avenue South in Savage, Minnesota.

The Savage Police Department, in partnership with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), confirmed that the infant was transported to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death. The child’s identity will be released following preliminary autopsy results and after family notifications are complete.

Safety Notice for Families

According to the Savage Police Department, they have issued an important safety notice to families whose children attend Rocking Horse Ranch. They are urged to monitor their children closely and seek immediate medical care if they notice any concerning symptoms, including altered mental status or unusual behavioral changes.

Ongoing Investigation

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Officials have not released further details about what may have led to the incident, but emphasized that additional information will be shared when available.
