SAINT PAUL MN: A Shakopee man has been charged in Ramsey County after authorities allege he was under the influence of alcohol when his vehicle became disabled on Interstate 94 in St. Paul and was struck by another vehicle, resulting in injuries to the other driver.

According to a criminal complaint, Jalen Leon Boudreaux, 28, is charged with criminal vehicular operation causing bodily harm while under the influence of alcohol and third-degree driving while impaired (DWI).

The charges stem from a crash reported at approximately 1:16 a.m. on June 1, 2026, on Interstate 94 near Cleveland Avenue in St. Paul.

According to the complaint, Minnesota State Patrol troopers responded to a collision involving a Toyota RAV4 and a Chevrolet Malibu. Investigators reviewed traffic camera footage that allegedly showed the Malibu become disabled and block the right lane of I-94 at approximately 1:05 a.m. The complaint states the vehicle's lights were extinguished about two minutes later, before the collision occurred around 1:12 a.m.

Troopers identified the driver of the Toyota as A.A.Y., an adult male. According to the complaint, he suffered an ankle injury in the crash and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Authorities identified Boudreaux, a Shakopee resident, as the driver of the Malibu. A 3-year-old child was also inside the vehicle at the time of the crash, according to court records.

The complaint alleges troopers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Boudreaux and observed that his eyes were bloodshot and watery. Investigators further allege Boudreaux admitted he had consumed alcohol within two hours before the collision.

Troopers conducted several standardized field sobriety tests. According to the complaint, Boudreaux displayed multiple indicators of impairment during the evaluations, including clues observed during the horizontal gaze nystagmus, one-leg stand and walk-and-turn tests.

Court documents state Boudreaux also submitted to a preliminary breath test, which allegedly indicated a blood alcohol concentration of 0.11.

After being placed under arrest on suspicion of DWI, the complaint alleges Boudreaux became emotional and began yelling. Troopers eventually secured him in handcuffs and transported him to Regions Hospital.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for a sample of Boudreaux's blood, which was collected at approximately 3:34 a.m. According to the complaint, laboratory test results were still pending when charges were filed.

If convicted, Boudreaux faces a maximum penalty of up to 364 days in jail and a $3,000 fine on each charge.

The allegations contained in the criminal complaint have not been proven in court. Boudreaux is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
