South St. Paul Police Respond to Series of Serious Incidents Including Shooting, Burglary, and Life-Threatening Hit-and-Run

SOUTH ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA - The South St Paul Police announced this morning that they are handling three major incidents that occurred Sunday night into Monday morning, November 16-17, 2025. They report that while their call volume was low, each incident required significant resources and drew the attention of several residents surrounding the area.
Shots Fired Report on 1st Avenue South
Around 6:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 700 block of 1st Avenue South after multiple callers reported hearing gunfire. Responding officers confirmed evidence consistent with the reported shots fired.
According to the South St. Paul Police Department, the early investigation suggests the incident was not random, and there is no known threat to the general public. No arrests have been made, and the case remains under active investigation. Police did not report any known injuries.
Burglary in Progress Leads to Arrest on Concord Exchange
At approximately 8:20 p.m., officers responded to a reported burglary in progress at a business in the 300 block of Concord Exchange. When officers arrived, they encountered a suspect fleeing the scene.
Police arrested a 39-year-old St. Paul man, who was taken into custody. A search of the surrounding area, supported by the Minnesota State Patrol’s flight section and K9 Doug, did not locate any additional suspects. Investigators are working to determine whether more individuals were involved. This is still an active investigation.
Woman Found with Life-Threatening Injuries in Apparent Hit-and-Run
Shortly after midnight, around 12:15 a.m., officers were called to a medical emergency in the 100 block of 3rd Avenue South. Upon arrival, they found an adult woman with severe injuries consistent with being struck or dragged by a vehicle.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police have not released information on a suspect vehicle, and the incident is being investigated as a possible hit-and-run or vehicular assault. The investigation remains active.
