SAINT PAUL MN: Three people are in custody following a brazen exchange of gunfire between occupants of two vehicles Tuesday afternoon in the Frogtown neighborhood, according to police.

Authorities say that at approximately 3:45 p.m., officers were proactively monitoring surveillance cameras in the area of University Avenue and Arundel Street when they observed occupants of two separate vehicles shooting at one another.

Officers quickly responded and located one of the suspected vehicles near Grotto Street and Edmund Avenue. As three individuals exited the vehicle, one person fled on foot. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate that individual.

The two remaining occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody without incident.

Police later located the second vehicle involved in the shooting near the intersection of Como Avenue, Front Avenue, and Dale Street. The driver of that vehicle was detained.

In total, three people were taken into custody. One adult male was booked into the Ramsey County Jail on suspicion of drive-by shooting. Authorities have not released additional details about the identities of those detained.

Investigators say the case remains active and ongoing. No further information is being released at this time.
