Man killed, another wounded in overnight shooting in downtown St. Paul; homicide investigation underway

SAINT PAUL: A man was killed and another was injured in an overnight shooting in downtown St. Paul, according to the Saint Paul Police Department.

Shortly before midnight, officers responded to the 200 block of 7th Street East after receiving multiple reports of gunfire.

When officers arrived, they found two adult men suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim had sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound to the stomach and was transported to Regions Hospital, where he died a short time later.

A second victim was found inside a nearby apartment with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg. He was also taken to Regions Hospital for treatment.

Saint Paul Police homicide investigators are working to determine what led to the shooting. No arrests have been announced, and the investigation remains active.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy to formally identify the deceased victim and determine the official cause and manner of death. Police said updates will be released through the Saint Paul Police Department's Facebook and X accounts as more information becomes available.

The death marks St. Paul's 12th homicide of 2026.
