WEST SAINT PAUL MN: The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the man whose body was found in a wooded area in West St. Paul last week as 74-year-old Daniel Jothen of West St. Paul.

Jothen's body was discovered on Friday, July 3, in a wooded area near 199 Wentworth Avenue East after officers with the West St. Paul Police Department responded to a report of a deceased person.

According to an update released Monday by the West St. Paul Police Department, the investigation remains ongoing, but foul play does not currently appear to be a factor in Jothen's death.

When the body was initially found, authorities said it was in a state of advanced decomposition, indicating Jothen had been deceased for an extended period. Investigators also reported there were no obvious signs of trauma.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the official cause and manner of death as the investigation continues.

The West St. Paul Police Department said it extends its condolences to the Jothen family.

Anyone with information related to the investigation is asked to contact the West St. Paul Police Department at 651-552-4200.
